Homeschool Program

The Blue Ridge Fencing Center homeschool program is designed to introduce the sport of fencing to Albemarle and Central Virginia homeschool families. Our head coach, Nathaniel Sides, started his own fencing career in a homeschool program and is thrilled to be offering that same opportunity to other homeschool families.

Fencers will learn about the history of swords, the rules for modern Olympic fencing, the techniques and tactics used, as well as bout and tournament strategy. Fencing teaches hand, foot, and eye coordination, problem solving, and critical thinking. Students will be challenged to perform technically correct moves with the correct tactical timing.

In addition to that, our homeschool fencers will enjoy making new friends, learning, competing, and ultimately playing with swords in a controlled environment with two convenient mid-day classes to choose from.
